Mark A. Weitz, JD, PhD

Mark A. Weitz is a senior litigation attorney and is of counsel to Mousilli Law, bringing over 35 years of exceptional legal experience to the firm. Licensed to practice law in Texas since 1983 and in Florida since 1988, Mr. Weitz's extensive career spans across multiple facets of law, including insurance law, health law, and civil litigation. His deep understanding of these areas is rooted in his prior roles as counsel to the Insurance Liquidator of Texas and as an executive within the insurance industry.

Mr. Weitz's legal acumen is exemplified by his representation of a diverse client base, both domestically and internationally, across a broad spectrum of insurance and corporate-related matters. His experience encompasses every aspect of the industry, from initial start-up through complex operations, legal compliance, reinsurance, policy interpretation, and captive formation. When necessary, Mr. Weitz adeptly navigates solvency issues, including rehabilitation and receivership, ensuring robust legal guidance at every stage.

In addition to his insurance expertise, Mr. Weitz served as general counsel to a group of medical providers, including an ambulatory surgery center, where he oversaw all aspects of legal compliance and litigation. Beyond his legal practice, Mr. Weitz is an accomplished author and scholar, widely published in American legal and constitutional history as well as military history, with a particular focus on the American Civil War. He has also held teaching positions at several universities, where he imparts his vast knowledge to the next generation of legal professionals.
